SILVIA ALUNNI

Silvia Alunni ended her excellent education at Conservatory “Santa Cecilia” of Rome with a Bachelor of Music in piano achieved at Conservatory “San Pietro a Majella” in Naples with M°Carlo Bruno. The completion of her education came with some of the most influent Italian and international musicians and theorists: Carlo Bruno (Quartetto Beethoven), Hans Graf (Mozarteum Salzburg), Dario De Rosa (Trio di Trieste), Altenberg Trio (Vienna Conservatory), Pier Narciso Masi (Accademia Pianistica “Incontri col Maestro” of Imola) and Piero Rattalino (Accademia Musicale Pescarese). Silvia Alunni’s concert activity as a soloist and chamberist is very intense both in Italy and internationally: she was invited by well-known concert societies and took part in many important festival (Istituzione Universitaria Concerti – Roma, Verona Jazz, Ente Concerti di Pesaro, Campus Internazionale di Musica – Latina, REC – Reggio Emilia, Camerino Festival, Società Barattelli – L’Aquila, Accademia Filarmonica Romana – Rome, Emilia Romagna Festival, – Imola, ecc.). Her repertory includes mainly piano literature of 17th and 18th centuries. She has been collaborating since 1999 with Stefano Pagliani, first violin of Teatro alla Scala (Milan) from 1990 to 2000, and together they made important tours in South America, Canada and United States. In the same year, the duo was invited in New York for a performance in the UN headquarters.

Currently, Silvia Alunni plays with three relevant Italian musical ensembles: I Solisti della Scala, Ars Ludi and Rumble Quintet which she founded. Dal 1999 al 2004 è stata membro del Consiglio Direttivo Nazionale dell’Associazione Giovanile Musicale (A.Gi.Mus.). Since 2004, Silvia Alunni is president and artistic director of Associazione Visioninmusica in Terni, her native town, where she does a very appreciated work in the field of arts, with productions and promotion of the musical culture. From 2002 to 2006 she was member of the board of Fondazione Alessandro Casagrande in Terni, a foundation working at the creation and support of the homonymous international piano competition.

In 2004 with Rumble Quintet – together with Stefano Bollani, Roberto Gatto, Antonio Caggiano and Gianluca Ruggeri – Silvia Alunni recorded with the Visioninmusica label the album “Lenny 4 Five”, dedicated to Leonard Bernstein musicals.

In 2006 – together with an ensemble of great musicians (Rita Marcotulli, Paolo Fresu, Andy Sheppard, Marilyn Mazur and Benita Haastrup) – she conceived, produced and interpreted the multimedia show “Elements, il suono delle pietre”, giving voice to the sound stones created by the Italian Pinuccio Sciola. The sculptures made by the Sardinian artist represented the sound and visual core of the event, where the moving images created by Roberto Masotti and Gerardo Lamattina perfectly integrated.

With the violinist Stefano Pagliani, Silvia Alunni recorded the two movements of Sergej Prokofiev, released in 2006 by the American label Arcadia. In 2011, with 1,042 votes of people and technical jury, Silvia Alunni won the “Ternano dell’anno” (Terni citizen of the year) prize for her artistic director activity at Visioninmusica and for her work as ‘cultural operator’. Born in 2007 on the willing of the local newspaper Giornale dell’Umbria, the prize was assigned for the first time to someone working in the field of culture. It witnesses Silvia Alunni’s high professionalism and strong passion, that characterize her work and commitment in proposing a high quality offer in the town of Terni.
